Reflexion - II

The reason behind my application to Girls in STEM was primarily because of opportunities and support that this non-profit organization gives to students from low-income households who cannot afford prestigious research opportunities or any other competitive and expensive programs. Now, fortunately, I am a part of it.  The way we support girls to contribute to the field of science with their incredible talent and passion deserves praise.

Girls in STEM  have an incredible mission of building learning experiences and opportunities to help disadvantaged communities explore STEM. This can be seen by the videos, posts and articles made and published in our journal and social media. Our great commitment can be seen through an example of ERI – Ewgis Research Institute – Summer Program where high school students explore STEM fields under the guidance of expert mentors, including Ph.D. students from diverse fields of science.  Many students were awarded and got their scholarships as well as certificates in previous years.

In my opinion, this is a stellar chance for students like me who came from developing countries to show their passion and knowledge without worrying about financial aspects. This is not the only event that was organized by our team. We regularly offer various kinds of summer internships, conferences. Right now, we are promoting CodeCademy for computer science lovers  and beginners to delve into their favorite sphere as much as they can. I am very proud to be the member of the team who cares firstly about the interest and zeal that students have , but not about their money. Every motivational quote posted, every motivational video uploaded and every article written deliver a great message to girls all around the world to stand together and show how powerful girls can be in STEM. The partners we collaborate with, the contents we make are only for you, girls in another corner of the world and dreaming about becoming a successful scientist, engineer, mathematician, doctor, programmer and so on.

As Michelle Obama said: “There is no limit to what we, as women, can accomplish”. The call that we want you to pick up is to stick to your dreams and work on yourselves to become the best version of you. The more you try, the more you fail, the more you will be strong and achieve.  That is what Girls in STEM are trying to say.  As a girl and a woman, we have every right, opportunity, strength and potential to celebrate our dreams and goals. If we cannot afford the  elite opportunities that exist right now, we will make it for ourselves by standing taller together in the impending future.
